This has added the factors that contribute to the development of a disease, including the advancing age, heredity, hours of standing, overweight, period of menstruation and pregnancy for womens, usage of birth control pills, history of blood clots, hormonal influences, tight clothes, injury to veins, liver disease, heart failure, fluid in abdomen, previous surgeries, exposure to the ultra-violet rays.

Generally varicose veins do not require medical treatment, but in case they are painful and creating problems in walking, one should get a treatment or call doctor for the advice. The treatment for varicose veins tends to reduce the symptoms and prevent the complications.

Mainly doctors advice the patients of varicose veins to avoid crossing of legs for sitting, wear loose clothes especially in case undergarments, avoid long standings, exercise regularly so that blood could circulate in better manner, loosening of weight in case of over weight, elevate the legs with laying down for at least 30 minutes twice a day.

Varicose veins may result harmful to the health due to ulcers that occurs with the enlarged veins that blocks the drainage of fluids under skin. Another reason could be the bacterial and fungal infections that may occur due to fluid build up in the legs. Phlebitis occurs with inflammation in the veins. And the reason of thrombosis that is a blood clot in the veins could also leads to hard situations.
